Overview

Kangan Institute provides high-quality aviation training at its Aviation Industry Training Centre (AITC), a state-of-the-art training facility offering accredited courses and tailored training to suit the needs of individuals and industry.

The AITC is the market leader in quality accredited aviation training for domestic and international markets within the Asia-Pacific region and is the only CAR30 and CAO100.66-approved Victorian training centre, making it Victoria's largest purpose-built training facility for the aviation industry.

The AITC covers 8,378 square metres over three levels and specialises in identifying skill shortfalls and developing training programs to enhance skills in a timely and cost-effective manner. The centre has a reputation for flexible delivery and innovative course design which meets industry needs.

Training at the AITC

The core business of the AITC is to provide technical and trade training in Avionics, Mechanical and Structures, including CASA approved Basic Technical training for categories A, B1 & B2.

The AITC also specialises in Advanced Composites courses for the aerospace manufacturing & repair industry along with professional and semi-professional studies such as the Diploma of Aviation (Professional Pilot), the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Engineering Aerospace including Business and Management courses.

Our pre-employment courses are a great pathway into the aviation industry and we provide a number of programs for Aircraft Trades and Flight Attendant and Operations training with graduates receiving credits towards national qualifications once employed.

We also conduct domestic and Airport Security Operations training and specialise in X-ray interpretation, Screen Baggage and People, Armed Guard, Cash-In-Transit, and Control Room Operator.

Other important areas of expertise in delivery are: advanced composites, Type training, WTIA and CASA certification welding (aircraft and general) and hydraulics, pneumatics and PLCs for the aviation and general engineering industry.

Kangan Institute has current Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approval for maintenance training and is a registered CASA Examination Centre.

The AITC was officially opened on August 15, 1994, by the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Hon. Brian Howe, MP. Its foundation sponsors include: Qantas, ASTA Avionic Services, Cathay Pacific, Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Swinburne University of Technology, to name just a few.
